Why Is Consuming Healthy Juices Good For You?

It is important to intake vegetables and fruits as they contain many vitamins, minerals and fibre and nutrients. You may have been told to eat plenty of vegetables and fruits as they help to prevent chronic diseases, cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers.

To complete your daily intake of vegetables and fruits you can drink healthy juices. You should make a place for juices in your diet. The juices do not contain fibre and provide you with the same level of nutrients when compared to eating whole vegetables and fruits.

Vegetables and fruits contain antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, immune-boosting nutrients and other nutrients. Juicing does not affect these qualities and sometimes the commercially produced juices have more nutrients than the whole fruit or vegetable.

When you buy juices you should check for 100% juice as it is squeezed directly from vegetables or fruits. It does not contain added sugars, flavours, additives or colours. The 100% juices cannot be modified except for blending with the fruit of the same species. It is considered a cost-effective food.

Such juices are available in the market and you should select the juices with more vitamins and minerals and folate. Sometimes the juice is supplemented with vitamins and minerals. Such juices are considered to be healthy and nutritionally superior to others.  You can also select juices that are fortified with calcium and vitamin D for better bone health.

Vegetable and fruit juices contain acids, carbohydrates, minerals, polyphenols, water-soluble vitamins, aroma compounds, colourful anthocyanins, fibres and other bioactive compounds. When the juices are prepared these components are transferred into it.

When juices are made using different processes the level of these components may vary. One of the processes used is the ‘cold-press’ method. In this, the fruit is pressed until all the juice is extracted. Such juices have a shorter shelf life and have to be consumed within 3 days. You should buy such juices as needed and refrigerate them.
